31 Days of Missional Living: Successfully Inviting Neighbors to Your Event (Day 5)

I hope you were able to pick a date and start planning your neighborhood event for this month. If not you still have time so go ahead and get it on your calendar.

Let’s talk about some good options for inviting your neighbors to your event.  There is a helpful "Event" feature in Nextdoor come. In order to expand your reach with this feature you’ll want to make sure you have a strong neighborhood presence on neighborhood’s Nextdoor account. One way to do this is to use the “Invite Neighbors” feature:

You can send email invitations, print customized flyers, share a Facebook link, and even have postcard invitations mailed for FREE.

Another great resource is White Pages Neighbors:

What’s great about this site is that it also allow as you to send FREE postcard invitations to events. You don’t have to upload addresses but you can customize names on the invites. You can also track RSVPs online.

Now that you have some tools to get you started here are some tips for successfully inviting your neighbors from missional pros like TomNebel and Gary Rohrmayer:
  1. Mail your invitations/put up flyers right away.
  2. A few days before the event go door to door with the same flyer, and invite people in person.
  3. Be sure to bring your kids/dog along with you. (This will make the interaction feel more personal and casual and less door-to-door salesman-like.)
So this weekend I want you to invite some more folks to join you on Nextdoor.com and begin inviting folks to attend your neighborhood event.
