Lent: Preparing Our Hearts for Easter
I have been reading Nancy Guthrie's, Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus at Christmas time for the past several years. When I discovered Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross a few years back I was thrilled to have a solid resource for the lenten season as well.
As usual Nancy has done a phenomenal job of pairing readings from some of the best preachers and teachers both old and new. Reflections from Tim Keller, RC Sproul, Charles Spurgeon, John Calvin, Martin Luther, and Alistair Begg are included among others.
If you haven't observed Lent before consider staring this year with Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross. Along with daily readings and the traditional forty day fast (which can include anything from food to social networking), Lindsay at Passionate Homemaking has compiled a list of ideas and resources for observing Lent as a family.
Remember, this year Lent begins on Wednesday, February 22.
